Mercedes is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. She is so ladylike with her great manners: she does not jump up on people and she doesn't bark even when the neighbor dogs bark at her. She is also pretty good about staying in the living room when her humans are eating at the kitchen table - no begging here!
You would never know that Mercedes had a very sad start, rescued from a kill shelter while pregnant. Thankfully her puppies are all adopted or being fostered, and she is living it up in her foster home.
Mercedes walks nicely on a leash and loves to sniff all around her turf. She rolls around on her back when she's feeling playful. When Mercedes is really happy sometimes she twirls her tail around like a propeller - it's the cutest thing you've ever seen! For pastimes Mercedes enjoys lounging on the couch next to her favorite humans, fetching toys, chewing on her toy bone, and pretending to understand when her human foster sister talks to her in nonsensical teenager slang - what is a "rizzler," and what is a "slay queen" anyway?
While she does not have formal training there is some groundwork there: Mercedes is very food motivated and is quite happy even to get a couple more bits of her regular food as a reward - no need to invest in expensive treats. She has learned that when a human says "yes!" in a happy tone it means she's about to get a couple more bits of food, so she is ready to put that association to work while learning new skills.
Mercedes is a little shy at first, but will be your most loyal friend once she gets to know you. Mercedes would love a fenced yard and she just adores other dogs. She would be happy as an only dog, but she would thrive in a home with another dog, especially if the other dog had more of an alpha dog personality
