** NO APARTMENTS/CONDOS for this VOCAL GIRL!! **

Collins is a 12 month old, female, Bloodhound.

This young girl did not start her life off pleasantly.  Sadly, Collins was found emaciated in rural Missouri. She was so infested with fleas, her skin and what was left of her coat were in terrible condition.  She required many medicated baths to soothe her skin from flea dermatitis.  She was started on a nutritious meal plan to help her gain weight at a healthy rate and to nourish her skin and coat.

As she was settling into her foster home, it was noticed she seemed to be in pain in her rear. She would limp and cry out at times. After an examination and X-rays from the vet, it was determined she has severe hip dysplasia.  She was referred to University of Missouri specialty veterinarians for an assessment to ensure Collins can live a healthy and pain free life.  She is one special girl that Needy Paws could not imagine the life she had to endure as a puppy!

After consulting with the specialists at MIzzou, they determined surgery was not the best path for Collins at this young stage of her life.  Due to the incredible care from her foster mom, Collins has built muscle in her hips and hind legs that allow her hips to stay in place with minimal pain.  She will need to stay on a joint health diet (Hill’s J/D prescription food) and joint supplement chew/treats.

A regular routine of exercise is essential for Collins to maintain her muscles.  Lots of walks and regular playtime!

We are dedicated to finding the perfect family for Collins that will love her as much as we do!

Collins is dog friendly and loves to romp and wrestle with her doggy friends.

She is housebroke and crate trained as well.

Because she is a true hound and has the vocals to prove it, apartments are not recommended for her new home.

How can you resist those big, floppy ears??
