Meet Lexus, she is approximately 1 year old and about 30 pounds.  We think she may have some Basset Hound, Jack Russell, Corgi or it could be anyone’s guess. All we know is she a long low rider and sweet and gentle as can be.

Lexi was pulled from a rural animal control where she went unclaimed until Needy Paws rescued her. She probably didn’t have the best life before coming into rescue and adding to that she is heartworm positive.

Lexi can be skittish at times and it takes her a little while to warm up to new people. She needs a patient adopter who FULLY understands this and is WILLING to work with her and give her the time to earn her trust.  It took about a week once she came to her current foster to feel comfortable. Now she’s happy, loving, playful and a little silly, but can still be a little nervous at times.  She’s great with the other dogs in the house, but because she’s going through heartworm treatment we need to keep her calm. But once she’s got the all clear, those short legs can move very fast.

She lives with cats and is completely fine with them.  She has not been around kids but with proper introductions and as long as the kids are respectful I would think she’d be fine. She’s mostly potty trained when kept on a regular schedule and let out often, so maybe someone retired or who works from home would be good for her. Lexi is also crate trained, but may need a little coaxing to go in but once in crate she’s fine.

Lexi will REQUIRE a fenced yard because she can get nervous in new situations. She’d love to have another dog to play with. She’s a bit nervous when being taken out on a leash in new environments but should get better once she feels more comfortable.

Lexi has received her final heartworm treatment and is doing well. She will need very limited activity for the next month or so to recuperate. We will go over all the do’s and don’t’s with potential adopter.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know Lexi …..
