MUST HAVE A DADDY IN THE HOME
NO SMALL CHILDREN
Known issues: Will get nippy with babies and toddlers, possibly noise/chaos triggered
Opie is an easy keeper, super eager to please and wants attention and snuggles all day long. He has the cutest puppy face even at 8 years old, and he jumps and plays like a young dog. His snaggle-tooth (underbite) smile is sure to win your heart, as he looks adoringly into your eyes and wants to be loved! Opie’s last primary owner was a man and he really wants another Dad!
Opie truly likes other dogs and initiates play with them, but will become territorial over toys. Opie would be great as an only dog with regular visits to a dog park to play and socialize. He really loves being indoors with people, especially men. Opie is crate trained but has been left uncrated for most of his life. He very rarely barks, and hasn’t at the foster home yet, even 3 terriers barking at the mailman!
Special Conditions: Opie is an owner surrender, and it was heart-breaking for them as he is very loved! (and it shows) They had to rehome him because he showed mild aggression towards the two babies that the family had after he had been there for several years. He was nippy at the children (2 yrs and 8 months) and it was unprovoked. It is also important to know the noise level may have something to do with his anxiety that triggers the nipping. SO NO BABIES, NO TODDLERS, NO LOUD HOMELIFE.
Opie has been superb at the foster home getting along with 2 small terriers and a 9 lb. Chiweenie. He is already bonded with the “Dad" in the home. This super affectionate guy is really perfect for adults or a home with older calm children.
Opie is going to be a very loved family member, he is worth the conditional needs!!
