Crate-trained: yes
Leash-trained: yes
Kids: good with children age 10 and up, with dog experience
Other Dogs: possibly
Cats: no

Rocky loves to be rubbed and scratched on his chest and belly and he won’t hesitate to ask for more by giving you hugs and kisses. He thinks he’s a lap dog and likes to climb into your lap or nudge in next to you on the sofa. If you want some kisses, just stop petting him and he’ll oblige.
Rocky needs and likes to run in the yard, so a fence is a must. He needs regular exercise and would do well with a family interested in completing obedience training with him. He can be shy in a new situation and needs time and reassurance to build his trust and confidence. He has responded well to treat rewards and patience.
Rocky is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go outside, and he will usually be quick about his business, unless he’s frightened. He also knows a few obedience commands and walks well on lead/harness but can be afraid of traffic. He loves balls and bones, and sometimes even the frisbee (see video). He can be protective of toys if taken by another dog and protective of humans if he feels they are threatened.
Rocky likes to lay down on the floor near me while I’m working at the computer and he goes in his crate easily when I ask. He sleeps quietly in his crate through the night.
Since Rocky is shy at first, he would do best with a family who knows how to earn a dog’s trust. As a herding breed, he’s probably best with no children or children age 10. He would do best as either an only dog or with another dog that is on the submissive side. Rocky cannot be in a home with cats, chickens, birds, or other pets.
If you’re looking for a sweet, loving dog, with energy and also on the shy side, all you need to do is earn his trust and Rocky will be the best dog for you.
Rocky’s adoption fee is $250.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
