“Star” – Australian Cattle Dog Red Heeler
Alert, curious, energetic, smart and eager to please.
Age: 1 year 2 months (DOB 3/27/2019)
Weight: 35 pounds
House-trained: in progress and very close
Crate-trained: yes
Leash-trained: yes
Kids: good with older children age 8 and up
Fence: at least 4 feet high
Star is wonderfully playful and eager to please. She’s shy at first and then a ball of love. She’s super smart and has already learned several obedience commands. She responds great to positive rewards and is easily corrected. She thinks she’s a lap dog and likes to lay in your lap or next to you on the sofa for a snuggle.
Star’s favorite toy is a tennis ball that she loves to play fetch with and she needs a nice sized yard with a fence at least 4 ft high. She loves to go on walks and enjoys car rides too.
Since she’s a herding breed, Star would do best with older children, probably age 8 and up. Because she’s so smart and needs to have a job, she would also do best with a family interested in completing obedience training with her. She will be the most loyal companion you’ll ever have!
Star loves her dog bed and her crate and sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. She knows to “go lay down” and “kennel up” for some quiet time while I work from home.
Star’s behavior and demeanor is very much Australian Cattle Dog. She is wary of new sounds and appreciates reassurance that you are there with her. Gentle introductions to new family humans and other pets would be best.
About the Australian Cattle Dog – https://www.akc.org/dog-
Standing between 17 to 20 inches at the shoulder, the Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, hard-muscled herder of strength and agility. The ACD is born with a white coat that turns blue-gray or red. Both coat varieties feature distinctive mottling or specking patterns. ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners.
ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.
