Hello! My name is Pumpkin! I may be small for a beagle, but know that I have a lot of love to give in this small curious body.
I am 3 years old, and was previously a hunter's dog. I still sniff around, and definitely would chase a bird or squirrel given the chance, but I am learning more each day on how to live as a non-working dog. I'm almost completely housebroken and my foster says I'm doing great! I don't love my crate yet, but I'm getting used to it. I would rather sleep in your bed with you, or in a dog bed though, as long as you didn't mind. Really, I'm just learning and adjusting and getting all the pets I can as I have so many new experiences.
I have a lot of anxiety, in getting adjusted to the world and new unknowns, as well as separation anxiety. I'd prefer to have an owner who is around to chill with me, I wouldn't be happy being left alone for the day. I get overwhelmed easily by noise and sights and smells, and need someone who is going to reassure and have patience with my fear and skittishness. Could that be you?
I love meeting people and making new friends (I often get distracted on walks by all the people and dogs I want to meet: oops). I would definitely do best in a one-owner home with a woman, as I am more trusting of females and function better giving most of my loyalty to one person. I do not like young kids or cats, both scare me a lot and I bark when I'm stressed! I do like other dogs though, so I may be able to have a doggy brother or sister.
I'm happy to go on walks with you, trot and sniff along, but I will also happily laze at your feet and help you out around the house! (And yes, I know how cute I am. )

Pumpkin ’s adoption fee is $250.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
