Oakley’s Story

Life started off kind of scary. My sisters, brothers and I were born under a trailer in the woods. Some nice people found us and took us in. We barely had our eyes open and had to be bottled to help us grow big and strong. We went to a nice lady’s house.  We call her Foster mom and she has been taking good care of us since. 

Let me tell you about myself.  My name is Oakley.  I am about 7 weeks old.  I am the biggest of my sibling, so I tend to keep everyone in line.  Foster mom calls me boss man.  I’m kind of a lazy guy.  Hey now don’t get me wrong, I love a good toy tug a war, pile on sibling match as much as the next guy, but given the choice, I’ll choose a nap.  My favorite spot to nap is right in front of the fan on a big pillow.  I have the best puppy dreams in that spot.   This man called a vet told my foster mom he thinks I am a boxer heeler mix.  I have no clue what that means, but foster mom says I’m adorable.  I might grow up to be about 50 lbs. or so.  I’m working really hard on potty training, foster mom says that’s what big kids do and I’m doing great at it, but I still have to keep working at it.  After all I’m only 7 weeks old.  I’m also learning how to sit.  I love living at foster moms’ house, but she said I need my own home so she can help other puppies grow big and find their homes.   Do you need a new nap buddy?  Couch snuggling, tv watching pal? Oakley is a typical puppy that will require ongoing training.

If you are interested in meeting Oakley, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.

Oakley’s adoption fee is $250.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.

We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
