This little cutie is Sarge! He came to us semi feral and from Kennett, MO animal control. He is around one year old and is a Jack Russell mix. He has been neutered, and is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. He is also microchipped.
Sarge has learned a great deal about how to be an indoor dog. He has picked up the household routine and some common phrase commands extremely quickly. He is not housebroken, and still has some accidents inside. He does very well with puppy pads, and is learning to always go outside.
Because Sarge is overly shy, he picks up all of his cues on how to behave from other dogs. To help Sarge continue to grow, his forever home must have at least one other well socialized and confident dog. He loves other dogs and is very playful once he gets to know the dogs in the house. He loves to mouth them.
Sarge will not seek out attention, but sometimes tolerates being pet. He is highly food motivated, and easily trained. He is a door dasher, and must be kept on a leash or actively monitored at all times. Sarge is not destructive if left alone in a picked up, clean and unenticing environment. He is crate trained (although his foster mom doesn't keep him in one during the day).
Some facts:
-Medium energy
-Does not require a fence
-If you have kids, they should be able to understand and respect animals (ie know when he doesn't want to be pet, able to learn body language, etc).
-Does not enjoy the act of being leashed, but does fine once on one
-Enjoys car rides and does very well in a vehicle
-We do not know how Sarge is with cats.
-Shy with new people and generally does not let them pet him.
-Doesn't bark much
-Would be fine as an apartment dog.
-Loves to play with enrichment toys and chew on nylabones.
